In an era saturated with over-polished cookie-cutter rock, the essence of rock music itself seems to be losing some of its edge. Not the case with Opaq, a MA/NH-based hard rock band together since 2007, whose members have come together with natural raw sounds that stand the test of time. On its debut album, “The Doldrums,” the chemistry is powerful, resulting in a heavy rock record that weaves its way through many genres and unique arrangements.
Consisting of Jim Dillon on vocals/bass, Chris Hrycuna on drums and Tyler Venture on Guitar, the members of Opaq came together as a result of many failed New England based bands and an answered ad.  Their debut album “The Doldrums” is infused with a strong sense of darkness and sarcasm. Opaq has roots in the past but is set firmly in the present. It is that combination that makes “The Doldrums” so original.
Opaq is finding its audience through intense, honest music. Fans who want to be enveloped in harsh reality will be attracted to the band's sound, which is a musical testament to honesty, purity and brutality. Opaq's second full-length album “Seeding the Clouds” is scheduled for release in August 2010. For more on Opaq visit the band websites www.opaqband.com and www.myspace.com/opaqband.
