The three piece, alternative rock band Far above the Ground created their band name after the guys shuffled around a few ideas about their music beliefs and influences – which include Social Distortion, Nirvana and Foo Fighters. FATG write songs that are clever, catchy and are outside the box. One of their natural talents is that they can write powerful songs that have their own unique sound and style, not songs that are considered hip and trendy presently. Formed in 2003 by three high school buddies in Marshfield — composer, guitarist and vocalist Ryan Stark, drummer Jayson Rowman and bass player James Davenport — the band split a year later. But reunited in April 2009, picking up where they left off, and soon enough wrote all new songs with a new improved sound and Ryan’s voice finally matured. The band hit the road and played over two-dozen shows without a demo.
In September 2009 FATG released their latest album, titled Washington Street, recorded at Galaxy Park Studios. Since the release FATG has played Harpers Ferry, Great Scott, Obrien’s, Hennessey’s, My House, KC Tap, The Good Bar and Marshfield Fair Battle of the bands. Pulse was born in the early spring of 2010 from the solo projects of William Keough. Paul, William's older brother, was already dropping sweet bass tones to his solo music, but without a drummer the two were just simply empty. When William followed in his brother's footsteps and attended Stonehill College in Easton he befriended a young Yankee fan named Danny Padilla. Danny had brought his little drummer boy kit to school and William immediately noticed. Living in the same hallway by chance, the two felt that working together on music was simply fate. And so when three began working on tunes together it was as if magic had swept through the Keough brother's Hingham home. The idea of a singular figure in the band didn't stick with any of the members in this three piece. So after many seconds of deliberation the band chose the name "Pulse" and a new era began. After rocking Stonehill College to its core during the spring of William's and Danny's freshman year, Pulse kicked off the summer in their usual rocking fashion by performing in the Exposure Music Festival at the Palladium May 15. The future of Pulse is yet to be written. It is up to the voters. Keep on rockin' in the free world. Pulse is Paul Keough (Bass, Keyboard), Danny Padilla (Drums), and William Keough (Guitar, Vocals).
